coastline of sitges

BWN member and Sitges resident, Pirkko Kasanen, shares some of her favourite restaurants in this picturesque town on the coast of Barcelona. Her tips on what to order and who to invite are helpful, too.

As she eloquently put it: so many restaurants, so little time!

El Vivero Beach Club restaurant right at the seafront has three levels. On the top: a bar, open to the elements, with fantastic views to the sea and the town. It is lovely any time in good weather and great for enjoying sunsets. The middle level is a bar. The lowest level is a seafood restaurant. We had good paella there.

Address: Paseo Balmins s/n, Tel. 93 894 2149

Mare Nostrum is a trusted and well-known seafood restaurant, “to take important colleagues”. For a reason. We went with Finnish friends. They enjoyed their paella, I loved my dorada.

Address: Paseo de la Ribera 60, Tel. 938 94 33 93

“Proper” restaurants:

Can Martí is a very good and well known restaurant with white tablecloths and delicious food. We celebrated our arrival in Sitges there, with the friends who helped us settle.

Address: C/ Bassa Rodona nº 10, Tel. 93 894 4114

La Salseta is another “real” restaurant with delicious and interesting portions. We took a Finnish colleague there who is very interested in food and wine.

La Nansa has two Michelin forks. Everybody says it is great. It is a place to celebrate with family, says a local friend. It is very popular so we have not managed a reservation yet.

Komokieras White table cloths, fantastic food, stylish decor, good service, nice touches (cold cava before you ask for it etc.), not too expensive. We went with a friend who
