Guest Speaker: Susan Llewelyn Leach, CEO and Cofounder of BitsyBags
AN ACCIDENTAL GREENPRENEUR AND THE RED HOT POWER OF THE BIGGER PICTURE
Susan Llewelyn Leach enjoys being one of the brains behind BitsyBags, a small but mighty solution to the ginormous problem of plastic pollution. But, there were many times this accidental – even reluctant – greenpreneur wanted to quit this startup. There were so many twists and dips in the learning curve! Dedication to Mother Earth kept her going, as did a dogged determination to be a part of the change she wanted to see in the world. This is a business story in which clarity about the Bigger Picture nurtured perseverance and ultimately progressed into a bona fide product tailored to the Spanish and Portuguese markets.
A journalist for over 20 years, Susan has written extensively about sustainability issues in Spain, including the alarming impact of plastic pollution on the environment. These reporting experiences inspired her and a friend to help consumers reduce their plastic habit by creating a beautiful alternative to the single-use bags used for fruit and veg in supermarkets and fruterías. BitsyBags launched in 2016 and has been touted in La Vanguardia, El Periódico, and other conscious consumerism sites, such as Opcions.
