BWN activities cover a wide array of interests including social, cultural, charity and well-being. These events are scheduled weekly, monthly or at special times of the year. Here is just a sample of our regularly held activities – there are too many to list in total!
Our monthly meetings are usually scheduled for the second Thursday of each month at the Institut d’Estudies Nord-Americans in Barcelona. Coffee Mornings gives members and those interested in joining the BWN a chance to meet, hear about and sign up for forthcoming events, and learn more about the BWN. Coffee mornings are always followed by a Cheap & Cheerful Lunch at a nearby restaurant offering an inexpensive menu del dia.
Held each month on Thursday, the week following the Coffee Morning, at the Renaissance Hotel Barcelona. This early evening meet-up is for members and prospective members, and gives those unable to attend the Coffee Morning a chance to gather and get current on upcoming events and other BWN news.
BWN members with businesses or business interests gather for an hour prior to the Coffee Morning monthly meeting to connect, ask questions, and brainstorm.
Other events for professionals, such as workshops, are in the works!
Morning Walks in the Parks
Every other Tuesday, spend a couple hours pleasantly getting some exercise while strolling through various parks within the city.
The Monthly Outings offer visits to unique cultural, gastronomic, or historic locations throughout Catalonia. Recent outings have included a trip to a jewelry atelier and a guided tour of parts of MNAC not open to the public.
The Heart Pillow Project
This monthly meetup combines camaraderie with good works by stuffing heart-shaped pillows that are donated to breast cancer patients recovering from surgery.
BWN has three book clubs that meet at different times: Book Club I (a.k.a. The Lit Wits), Book Club II (Between the Covers), and the Spanish Book Club. Although each book club has a set number of spaces available, we publish the reading lists so that all members know what books are on the agenda.
The Spanish Book Club provides practice for both speaking and reading Spanish and is open to all levels.
Moms & Tots Playgroup
This get-together for moms, babies, toddlers, and other caregivers includes free play and sing-along time (with songs in English.) Meets weekly on Wednesday mornings.
Other family-focused events have included Calçotadas, Christmas parties with Santa, first aid workshops, and a skateboarding workshop!
The Lunch Club
A lunchtime gathering held in different neighborhoods and based on restaurant recommendations from our “Lunch Scouts”.
Friendly networking + short, smart talks for Barcelona’s expat ‘preneurs (entre, micro, solo, budding). Unforgettable Guest Speakers. Light Breakfast.
Some of the special events we have enjoyed in the past include wine tastings, cooking demos, shopping trips to La Roca Village, and art workshops involving stained glass and Origami.
